Press Revue:
« This immensely rich recording is neither a presentation of the cornetto (as in a museum), nor is it a mere introduction to the instrument’s repertoire.  Instead, it is an effervescent and poetic look at certain moments:  the art of improvisation in Italy at the end of the 16th century; Venice at the time of Monteverdi; the world of Buxtehude.  As Pierre Hamon has done with his myriad flutes, so William Dongois has absorbed certain elements from ethnic musical cultures: the untempered musical scales, non-rational rhythmic thought, a wide improvisatory practice, and notions of time and space long since banished from Western horizons.  A poetical seeker, equipped with an infallible instrumental technique, he breathes a natural musicality, dreamy but fully lacking in sentimentality.  The Concert Brise brings us this intelligent and delectable artistic project, which, beyond the acoustical delights to be savored, and the three musical moments featured, surprises the listener into a free meditation on humanity, in the sense of filmmaker Bruno Dumont, but with a sensual and enthusiastic flavor.
